My name is Mariah Adams and I KNOW Jesus Christ is a faithful God who loves you. Simply because...He loves me and has taken care of ME. Someone as insignificant as me, He has shown himself to be true. So have a seat in one of the those nice couches, or a chair, of even stand if you will! I would like to share a little somethin' somethin' about myself. Now, I could write on and on how troubling it was moving down here from Indiana at 12 with no family or friends here, or going through foster care as a teen, living with a broken heart wounded by those closest to me, or even finding out that my dad wasn't my REAL dad when I was 11. He just signed my birth certificate as my father and had NO intentions of ever telling me..I searched desperately for my biological father just to find out he died a few years prior to me receiving the news about him (so they say)..but all of that would be too easy to complain about. Plus when did complaining ever make you feel better?
Instead I MUST tell you how God watched out for me. How His blessings have outweighed all the negative. For starters, because of foster care I now get to graduate college debt free because of the grants offered to me. Now that's a big deal, ya feel me?? Foster care has given me the opportunity to speak into other foster youths lives and give them hope that they do not have to be a product of their situation. It has given me the opportunity to meet foster youth from all over the country and even some out of the country! More importantly, because I have a Heavenly Father always watching out for me and knows the desires of my heart, I have been given a family. I have a mother for the first time in my life. I cannot express how much I longed for one in my life. No love on earth can compare to it. But I have an awesome God who fills those empty spots in us and GIVES more than what we could ever imagine. I can finally be a sister for the first time. Not a sister trying to be a parent to my younger sister because I felt obligated to fill that role. I also have someone to call that I can always depend on. Earlier in the year, ya girl here hit a pothole and ended with up with TWO flat tires. Not one but two. And being the college student that I am, I have a college budget to go along with it. So paying for expensive tires was not an option. I was able to call my (foster) dad without feeling like I was bothering him. I wasn't left alone to figure it out. I called freely and asked for simple advice.
I could write a book of all the ways God has blessed my life, how he scooped me up and placed me exactly where I needed to be, and not to mention his perfect timing. But I will sum it up with Psalms 27:14,
"Here’s what I’ve learned through it all:Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave, courageous, and never lose hope.Yes, keep on waiting—for he will never disappoint you!”
